BANGALORE, INDIA: Businesses consider project management as a part of their competitive advantage strategies nowadays as it has become critical to business performance, growth and organizational success. Effective project management and successful execution of projects help businesses to achieve the objectives and intended benefits.
This has created a high demand for the project-oriented professionals. According to the Project Management Talent Gap Report by PMI, China and India will lead the growth in project management, generating approximately 8.1 million and 4 million project management roles through 2020, respectively. In fact, employment will increase by almost 60 percent in India, more than 33 percent in China and by more than 40 percent in the UAE.
This increasingly high demand will widen the gap between the demand and the availability of project management professionals further.
High demand for project-oriented professionals also drove faster-than-average salary growth of a Project Management Professional (PMP). Salary growth among PMPs averaged about $2,800 a year, while that of non-project-oriented professions was approximately $1,700, according to the PMI report.
