MUNICH: Reports say that there has been a cooperative agreement between Rohde & Schwarz and Belgian company NMDG NV to expand its network analysis portfolio of nonlinear measurement solutions.

NMDG is a company that delivers high-frequency measurement systems and services which specialize in characterizing and analyzing beyond S-parameters the behavior of active high-frequency (HF) electrical components under realistic test conditions.

It is important that advanced RF components and systems support complex modulation techniques and accommodate even wider transmission bandwidths. The objective is to achieve higher data throughput lowering power consumption at the same time, according to an EETimes report.

Sources at Rohde & Schwarz pointed out that network analysis that characterizes nonlinear effects would allow RF components and systems to be optimized during the design phase itself. They also said that this was the very reason that development engineers in the semiconductor industry are becoming more interested in T&M solutions - which can be used to align the data gathered (in a manner that can be reproduced) during characterization, modeling and simulation as well as from real-world measurement sequences.

NMDG uses T&M equipment from Rohde & Schwarz to produce advanced characterization systems. Sources at the company have stated that they look forward to collaborating even more closely with this partner on the joint development and propagation of nonlinear network analysis.
