BANGALORE, INDIA: Looks like Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, has taken a leaf straight out of the book of the United States' President, Barack Obama.

What Obama did two days after the State of the Union address at a joint session of U.S. Congress, PC is going to replicate. Well, not exactly so. The US President's Google+ Hangout on February 14 focused more on immigration reforms and technology policy, whereas our FinMin's has a broader scope - from industry-specific tax reforms to overall economic progress of the country.

"One of the mainstays of India's political calendar is the annual Union Budget that is presented every February. This year - in a first for the Government of India - the Finance Minister will take to Google+ to respond to citizens' questions about the Budget, and discuss the state of the Indian economy with a panel of industry leaders as well as citizens," announced a Google blog post on Tuesday.

Before preparing your set of questions, you can watch the Finance Minister deliver her budget address live on YouTube on February 28, at 10 am. Then, you can tune in for the Budget Hangout on Google India's +Page on March 4, at 8 pm, for a unique discussion with the Indian Finance Minister. On the page, you can submit your question either as a video or as a comment, using the hashtag #askthefm.

Alternatively, you may also head to the InConversation YouTube channel.

Along with the Finance Minister during his Hangout will be Jahangir Aziz, senior Asia economist and India chief economist, JP Morgan, Anand Mahindra, chairman and managing director of Mahindra & Mahindra, and Amit Singhal, senior vice-president, Google Inc. "During the conversation, selected participants will ask the Minister questions - but we'd also like to hear from you before the Hangout," said a Google representative in the blog post.
