The 43 year old CEO  is a Chennai born and a graduate of IIT Kharagpur and also has a Master of Science from Stanford University as well as a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Pichai started at Google in 2004, worked on the Google toolbar and then also led the launch of the market-beating Chrome browser in 2008. He soon became vice president, then senior vice president, and was headed all Google apps including Gmail and Google Drive and finally Android.

In October 2014, he was given the charge of Product Chief. With this position he supervised daily commands including Google's major products such as advertising, maps, search etc and also became the right hand to Larry Page.

In Google blog post, Larry Page, CEO, posted,  "I feel very fortunate to have someone as talented as he is to run the slightly slimmed down Google and this frees up time for me to continue to scale our aspirations. I have been spending quite a bit of time with Sundar, helping him and the company in any way I can, and I will of course continue to do that. Google itself is also making all sorts of new products, and I know Sundar will always be focused on innovation -- continuing to stretch boundaries. I know he deeply cares that we can continue to make big strides on our core mission to organize the world's information."
