“We are at present busy with budget allocation. We will be forming this group in a month’s time,” K Sujatha Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare told CIOL on the sidelines of a two-day seminar being organized by TRAI on mobile applications for inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Rao had last month told that the Health Ministry is keenly looking at the possibility of telemedicine, electronic health record, e-billing and other technology tools to transform Indian healthcare sector.

On the same occasion, she had mentioned that a working group would be formed to pave way for using technology in the healthcare industry.

A consortium led by Apollo group has already submitted a draft proposal to the ministry on the use of ICT in the healthcare sector. In this proposal the consortium has submitted recommendation classified under eight points namely transformation of data elements, health identifiers, clinical terminology standards, minimum data sets, billing formats, messaging standards, education framework and legal framework.

The ministry is yet to give a comment on these recommendations.
