HCL Infosystems, Intransa in OEM partnership

SAN JOSE/ NEW DELHI: Intransa has announced that it has entered into a strategic software license/ OEM partnership with HCL Infosystems. With Intransa's StorControl software running on HCL Global Line servers the agreement enables HCL Infosystems to deliver top-of-line IP SAN systems “powered by Intransa,” a press release said.

“The demand for true IP SAN systems is exploding in India and with Intransa's software IP SAN technology HCL Infosystems has its sights on becoming the dominant player in the SAN space” said George Paul, VP, marketing, HCL Infosystems Ltd., “HCL IP SAN system, powered by Intransa, will enable us to offer an IP-based SAN infrastructure, that delivers value, simplified management and provisioning of virtualized resources to our large base of ITES, corporate and government customers.”

Designed as an alternative for IT planners and administrators to build, manage and scale storage infrastructures, the HCL IP SAN system, powered by Intransa, is targeted at small, medium and large enterprise environments.

The IP SAN system will utilize the customer's existing Ethernet and IP infrastructure, and the TCP/IP skill sets of its IT technicians, enabling enterprise storage planners to consolidate distributed storage resources, control rising storage costs and implement LAN-free backups and restoration, in addition to comprehensive disaster recovery practices.

"IP SANs deliver superior data management capabilities for customers seeking to migrate from a DAS or NAS solution. IP SANs can also coexist with fibre channel SANs providing a cost effective tiered solution" stated Sanjit Sinha, Senior Manager, Hardware Research, IDC, India. "The HCL IP SAN system, powered by Intransa's StorControl IP SAN software, can lead the market for production grade IP SAN deployments in the enterprise. Intransa's OEM strategy of having Intransa StorControl IP SAN management software on industry standard servers, as storage controllers, will certainly accelerate IP SAN adoption in the market place."
