HCL gets IETE pat for performance excellence

NEW DELHI: Information enabling firm HCL Infosystems has received the 7th Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers' (IETE) 'Corporate Award for Performance Excellence' in the field of computer and telecommunication systems on the occasion of the IETE's 48th annual technical convention held in New Delhi.

Dr J.S. Sarma, Secretary, DOT & Telecom, Govt. of India; G.P. Srivastava, chairman and managing director, ECIL, and many other eminent scientists were present at the function, which was inaugurated by Santosh Mohan Dev, Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.

The award is IETE's acknowledgement of outstanding achievements in the broad areas of electronics, communications, computers and related subjects. With this award, HCL is placed with previous eminent winners like Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys.

HCL Infosystems executive vice president George Paul, accepting the award, said: "This award is a great honour for HCL and recognizes our passion for excellence. Since our inception, we have continuously strived to set higher standards of performance in serving the IT needs of our customers. I am very thankful to IETE for recognizing our efforts."

IETE Corporate Awards for Performance Excellence are presented in recognition of outstanding performance in the field of electronics components, computer and telecommunication systems and software.

The main criteria for evaluation are excellence in engineering, outstanding growth rates in manufacturing, exports, R&D efforts and their commercial deployment, optimum utilization of appropriate technologies and management practices or other initiatives that have resulted in accelerated growth in the country in the above mentioned fields over the past three years.

The IETE is India's leading recognised professional society devoted to the advancement of science and technology of electronics, telecommunication and IT. Founded in 1953, it serves more than 50,000 members through 51 centres spread all over India and abroad. The government of India has recognised IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) and also notified as an educational institution of national eminence.
