HCL continues to invest in human capital development in UP

LUCKNOW, INDIA: HCL, which was established in partnership with UP Government four decades ago and has since then progressed to be a leading global IT services provider, today shared that it continues to invest in the human capital investment in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

HCL will develop a world class state-of-the-art 100 acre IT city in the state capital, which will put Lucknow on the global IT map. Uttar Pradesh Government has awarded the project to Vamasundari Investments Pvt Ltd, the investment arm of HCL.

Earmarked to come-up over a 100 acre plot of land, approximately 60 acres of the proposed IT City will be allotted to IT and ITeS, including a hi-tech skill development center with a capacity to train more than 5000 people, while the rest 40 acres is intended for support infrastructure and initiates of social impact.

Hon. Chief Minister of UP, Akhilesh Yadav, said: "IT City shall play a crucial role in the overall economic development and boost up industrial growth of the state. Apart from this, it will directly create approximately 25000 job opportunities for the youth of the state. Ancillary support services required for setting up IT industry such as hardware manufacturing, telecommunication equipment and several others shall also create huge career opportunities. It will stop state's talent from migrating to other states in search of a better career."

He said that UP Government is committed to provide various citizen centric government services to its citizens in a transparent, efficient and corruption free manner. To realize this vision, various e-governance project are being implemented and already more than 15 million digitally signed e-certificates have been delivered.

Javed Usmani, Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh, said: "The IT city fulfills an aspiration of the state government to enhance the societal and business transformation in the state. As India embraces a technologically driven business and social innovation - IT City will be the catalyst for change. We hope and intend that with this long partnership with HCL, the state of UP will play its part in furthering nation's ecosystem for growth and leadership."

Shiv Nadar, founder and chairman - HCL, Shiv Nadar Foundation, said: "Four decades ago, we dreamt of positively impacting the world with microprocessors and the journey then began in partnership with UP government. Ever since, we have been privileged to find increasing opportunities to contribute towards the human capital development and growth in the state. We are pleased to be at the start of yet another initiative. The development of IT City will further the momentum for innovation-led growth and social development in the state of Uttar Pradesh."

HCL has it global headquarters located in Noida and offers indirect employment to 100000 people in UP. And, 30,000 of its employees out of the total of approximately 90,000 employees, work out of UP.

The company has set-up North India's first IT SEZ in Noida, which is a 46 acres campus. In its full capacity the campus, will seat 25,000 employees and generate export revenue to the tune of $1 billion.

Shiv Nadar Foundation has set-up India's first Ivy League Shiv Nadar University in Dadri, VidyaGyan Leadership Academies in Blandisher and Sitapur and Shiv Nadar School in Noida. The IT city is HCL's latest addition to its global network of software development and delivery centers and a showcase of HCL's continued commitment to the development of the state.
