NEW DELHI: HCL Comnet, a secured connectivity provider, has bagged the
largest networking contract of the year, SBI's Fast Track Project, to inter-link
257 ATMs across the country. SBI is planning to roll out 250 plus ATM sites
within a span of 60 days.
They were looking at a large, experienced network integrator who could work
within the stipulated time frame and had presence across the cities where SBI
wanted the network. HCL Comnet, with an installed base of over 5,000 VSATs and
nationwide presence spanning 410 cities, provided a perfect solution for setting
up the ATM network.
With Fast Track, HCL Comnet has set a new industry benchmark by inter-linking
over 200 of the 257 ATMs in just 23 days. This quick deployment was facilitated
by Smartmanage, a real-time project and network management tool, which enables a
minute by minute tracking of the project.
Smartmanage was deployed for the first time for such a large network and has
proven to be very successful. The firm now plans for the complete implementation
of the order in 30 days. Fast Track also reinforces HCL Comnet's strategy to
focus on the high-potential ATM segment by providing customized, cost-effective
VSAT connectivity solutions.
In the first phase of the SBI project of inter-connecting 240 ATMs, HCL
Comnet will provide uninterrupted connectivity through a hybrid network of VSATs,
leased lines, VPNs and ISDN lines to offer an easy-to-deploy and highly scalable
solution. The company's proven expertise has come to the fore, with the
deployment of this mission critical and complex network in record time. SBI is
also mooting a proposal to network all its branches and ATMs across the country.
In addition to SBI's Fast Track, HCL Comnet is also interconnecting other
large ATM networks for banks including the Mumbai-based IndusInd Bank, one of
the leading private sector banks in the country.
