HAL, BITS Pilani ally for integrated learning

PILANI, INDIA: Right from 1979, the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, has set a benchmark in Industry-University collaborations for addressing the Human Resource Development issue of various industries by launching an array of work integrated learning programmes to synergize the workplace requirements of the industry with the learning requirements of the university.

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), Bangalore is a Strategic Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. HAL is engaged in design, manufacture, maintenance and overhaul of various types of Aircraft, Helicopters, Accessories, Avionics etc. While HAL has a strong knowledge based workforce of over 30,000 employees, it also utilizes modern and advanced aerospace technology.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BITS and HAL was signed recently with the objective of fostering collaboration between the two institutions to promote academic and research interactions.

The MoU was signed by Sanjeev Sahi, Director (Personnel) on behalf of HAL, and Prof. L.K. Maheshwari, Vice Chancellor on behalf of BITS Pilani. BITS will offer educational avenues at various levels to meet the human resources development needs of HAL through its Off-Campus Work Integrated Learning Programs.

A Coordination Committee consisting of Vice-Chancellor, BITS as Chairman, and two nominees each from HAL and BITS would plan, coordinate and monitor the academic and research programmes as well as all related operational matters within the framework of the academic regulations of BITS and the objectives outlined by HAL.
