HYDERABAD, INDIA: Tech Mahindra MD & CEO CP Gurnani has been appointed as the new Chairman of National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM). He succeeds BVR Mohan Reddy, who served as Chairman of NASSCOM for 2015-16.

CP Gurnani is an accomplished business leader with extensive experience in international business development, start-ups and turnarounds, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and in many ways led Tech Mahindra’s transformation journey.

The Executive Council also announced the appointment of Raman Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of Quatrro Global Services as the Vice Chairman of NASSCOM for 2016-17. Raman Roy is fondly referred to as the “Father of the Indian BPO Industry”.

Gurnani along with Raman Roy and President, R Chandrashekhar will lead NASSCOM to carry out its diverse array of priorities to enable NASSCOM in achieving the 2020 vision for the industry:

  1. Focused programs to build India as digital and innovation hub
  2. Enhance global trade initiatives to counter protectionist sentiments and enhance market access in developed and emerging markets
  3. Build programs to showcase how domestic technology adoption can accelerate India’s transformation
  4. Expand and nurture the startup initiative through focused interventions and business connect
  5. Strengthen industry council initiatives to enhance engagement across the ecosystem
  6. Focus on Niche Opportunity Areas identified in Perspective 2025 – IOT, Cyber Security, Analytics, SaaS
  7. Accelerate adoption of job roles and qualification packs for key skills, lead mutual recognition of skills in Asian countries
