GTL to invest Rs 700-800 cr more for Aircel towers

A day after GTL Infrastructure closed a Rs 8,400 crore, all-cash deal with Aircel for the telecom operator's tower assets marking the beginning of a strategic partnership, it has revealed crucial information on just what this deal will imply for players in the telecom space in India and abroad.

Talking about their new pan-India footprint, GTL spokesperson, Vikas Arora, Sr VP corporate affairs, said, "While GTL had a strong presence in the North and West, Aircel was strong in the East and South region. Thus, with this new partnership, together we will now be operative all over the country, which will help in more inventory and a greater bouquet of VAS for customers."

In the pipeline is a Rs 10,000 crore investment for development of passive telecom infrastructure in rural India.
