Gray Cell is now Unimobile.com, scouts for second round of funding

BANGALORE: US-based Gray Cell Inc., which has changed its name to Unimobile.com, is currently looking for a second round of venture funding. According to Unimobile.com founder and chairman Rajesh T.S. Redddy, the company had planned to raise $4 million but had already signed term sheets to raise of $15 million. These commitments have come from Comventures, NetAngels and Sonera Telecom.



"The company has been valued at over $50 million. This represents a seven times increase in the valuation of the company in a period of nine months," said the company’s newly appointed President and CEO Vasudev Bhandarkar.



Unimobile has also launched a global partnership program and marketing strategy. It plans to have a subscriber base of one million by 2000 end.



Unimobile plans to start its marketing efforts soon. Mr Reddy said that Unimobile solutions are already being used by consumers across 110 countries across the world. Meanwhile, the company has launched an updated version of its product, Unimobile 2.0, which supports two-way mobile instant messaging on any wireless device and desktop. It is also WAP enabled and has advanced connectivity features for use behind firewalls.



Unimobile is considered to be the World’s first Internet mobile. A free desktop tool, it helps users to connect to any mobile devices anywhere in the world through the Net, across all technologies and protocols.
