BANGALORE, INDIA: Finally the mystery over Google's ‘unexplained phenomenon’ doodle is over.

After speculations over many a theory, it is finally revealed that the doodle featuring a UFO, a saucer-shaped spacecraft sucking up one of the Google Os, which linked to the search 'unexplained phenomenon', was in honour of Zero Wing, a 1980s Japanese video game, according to the telegraph.co.uk.

The mystery had created a lot of confusion and speculation, as the Doodle had no apparent connection with any special event or time.

Even as the speculation was doing the round with many 'alien' theories, Google had further added to the mystery with another statement.

“We consider the second 'o' critical to user recognition of our brand and pronunciation of our name. We are actively looking into the mysterious tweet that has appeared on the Google twitter stream and the disappearance of the "o" on the Google homepage. We hope to have an update in the coming weeks," said the statement.

The mystery of the 'unexplained phenomenon' made it one of the top trending search terms on Google on Saturday and also in the top 10 search terms is the phrase 'top 10 unexplained phenomena'.

And now we realise that Google had taken us for an alien ride, as one Twitter post commented. A (over) smart game isn't it?
