Google’s internal startup incubator, Area 120 is a busy place, testing, developing new things every day. Unveiled last year, the creative organisation has so far created many projects including personal stylist app Tailor, a voice messenger Supersonic, and most recent Uptime for watching YouTube with friends. And now, another app called Appointments has been spotted under development.

Appointments, a salon booking tool has not yet been publicly released to any app store, but its project page is already live. The USP of the app is that it goes beyond offering just an online booking system and also includes an integrated website for participating businesses and a tool that turns SMS client texts into booking links.

The service can work both via mobile and through the website. And once customers use it, they can see a week’s availability on their screens. Besides, you can also check other information, like the services offered at that location, directions, photo gallery, price list, and contact information, like the address and phone number etc.

Though at the moment, there isn't much information available about Appointments as its still under development but this could well be an alternative to Microsoft’s Bookings app announced last year.

Area 120 was designed to spur new products while also helping the company retain entrepreneurial employees. Apparently, teams first submit business proposals to Google, which, if accepted, let them join the program and work on their product for a few months. They may also have the opportunity to pitch Google for additional funding.
