Google to roll-out improved, organised Gmail soon

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Gmail will soon be getting a new inbox for desktop and mobile that Google says will help users organise their emails more easily. Google announced the new and improved inbox via their official blogpost today.

The new inbox will have four tabs namely Primary, Social, Updates and Promotions. All the mails from social networking sites will be grouped under the Social tab, mails on offers and adverstisements under promotions, and biils and receipts under updates.The Primary tab will be for mails that are really important and what one wants to read.

''If the new inbox isn't quite your style, you can simply switch off all optional tabs to go back to classic view, or switch to any of your other favorite inbox types,'' says the blog.

The change is applicable to Gmail for Android 4.0+ and Gmail for iPhone and iPad apps as well. According to the blog, the new inbox is rolling out gradually. The desktop, Android and iOS versions will become available within the next few weeks.

Users can also try out the new inbox on desktop sooner by keeping an eye on the gear menu and selecting configure inbox when it appears in the Settings options, says the blog.
