When ‘Google Now’ was first announced at the company’s annual developer conference 2012, Google had said that it will give users search results even before they search for them; and as of August 2016, this remains true!

Google Now, the intelligent personal assistant developed by Google, which already provides users with relevant information like train schedules, traffic alerts, sports scores, event reminders and the weather updates for Android, iOS is about to get a whole lot smarter with a test feature, called "Explore Interests."

With "Explore Interests", Google is offering users a different way to customize their interests across various categories and let Google take care of the rest. The app users can pick "teams, bands, movies, and more” and a click-through takes them to a screen where there are colorful tiles for sections like “Sports,” “TV,” “Movies,” “Musicians,” “People,” “Stocks,” and more.

As you further dive into the app, you can browse through cards of individual items across a number of subcategories. For example, under the “TV” categories, there’s a sub-section of just Reality TV shows, with items like “The Voice,” “American Idol,” “The Bachelor,” and others available to track with just a tap. Meanwhile, the “People” section may show you cards for politicians like Clinton and Trump, as well as athletes, actors and other figures.

In the initial reports covered by Android Police, they stated, “Each of this category have different things that can be added, meaning if anything happens to that specific interest, it will pop up in Google Now as a new card.”

Currently, there's no search bar, however, there is the option for the user to see topics that are "Popular in Your Area", which gives the Google Now interests feature a bit of local flair.

As we mentioned above, Explore Interest is still in the early testing phase, and Google is also yet to announce it officially, so don't expect the feature coming to your phone anytime soon.
