People often googles to know the causes of a mild headache, and the information overload on the web, often leads them to scary and unlikely conditions causing unnecessary anxiety and stress.

To avoid this, Google will simplify the search option and make it more precise to help people explore health conditions related to the symptoms, before talking to medical practitioners.

"So starting in the coming days, when you ask Google about symptoms like “headache on one side,” we’ll show you a list of related conditions (“headache,” “migraine,” “tension headache,” “cluster headache,” “sinusitis,” and “common cold”)," said , Google in a blog post.

Google will also give you an overview description along with information on self-treatment options for each of the individual symptoms.1

Nearly 1 percent of Google's search volume are symptom-related, says Google. Google will use its Knowledge Graph to these common medical search queries to improve the search for a list of symptoms. Knowledge Graph is a knowledge base used by Google to enhance its search engine's search results with semantic-search information gathered from a wide variety of sources.

It is also working with a team of medical doctors to carefully review the individual symptom information, to improve the lists.

Google will be rolling out this update over the next few days, first in English in the U.S. and will extend the capability to other languages and internationally over time.
