Google post says that Inbox expands upon the categories they introduced in Gmail last year, making it easy to deal with similar types of mail all at once. You can add reminders and provides Assists, that help you remember your priorities and noted errands.

You can snooze away the emails and reminders if its disturbing. You can set them to remind  at another time or when you get to a specific location, like your home or your office.

Inbox works slightly differently and can be added only if invited. Each new user will be able to invite their friends. Although, if you do not receive an invitation soon you can drop an email at inbox@google.com to get an invitation.
