Google+ head Vic Gundotra quits Google

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Vivek Gundotra popularly known as Vic, the top social networking executive at Google has announced his exist from the company. He served the company for eight years and was in charge of Google+ as the company's senior vice president.

Gundotra didn't explain his reasons for leaving nor did he reveal what he plans to do next. He posted on Google+: "Today, I'm announcing my departure from Google after almost 8 years. I'm also forever in debt to the Google+ team. This is a group of people who built social at Google against the skepticism of so many."

Google CEO Larry Page praised Gundotra in his own Plus post. He posted, Gundotra built Google Plus "from nothing," Page wrote. "There are few people with the courage and ability to start something like that and I am very grateful for all (Gundotra's) hard work and passion."

Gundotra is the man behind Google+, which boasts of 500 million users. Before taking up Google+ he helped in building some apps for Google's Android operating system. A graduate from IIT, prior to Google he worked for 15 years for Microsoft.
