Google Chromebook to enter India next year

BANGALORE, INDIA: Search engine Google is likely to launch Chromebook in India next year. Chromebook is a laptop that runs on the Google Chrome operating system.

Cashing in on the success of Gmail and Chrome, Google considers India as a strategic market with over 100 million Internet subscribers.

Sundar Pichai, senior vice-president, Google Chrome and Apps, is optimistic Chromebook will be received well in India.

According to media reports, Pichai said that when Google launched Chrome in India, every one said it won't be a success as India lacked sufficient bandwidth connections. But the result was amazing.

The Chromebook can boot in 8 seconds and resume instantly. Its built-in data security helps store data safely in the cloud. Its 3G connection enables connectivity anywhere and everywhere.

Google's Chrome OS functionalities will be available only if the Chromebook is connected to the Internet. Google expects it to spur people to use the Internet more often and search for more things, potentially boosting its Internet ads business.
