Global Telenet, Netsonic tie up for IT products

HYDERABAD: Global Telenet Ltd. of Hyderabad is all set to unveil its range of

IT products, including desktop PCs and dial-up modems, within a month. It has

tied up with Netsonic, a Chinese-based manufacturer of IT products. According to

the agreement, the Chinese firm will manufacture the products while Global

Telenet will take care of the marketing.

The company is in the process of setting up a countrywide network of

dedicated business associates, area partners and channel partners, in addition

to its existing network. "We are looking for area partners to market these

set of products in India. Initially, we have set a target of 600 area partners

in all major cities in India," said Global Telenet Ltd. (marketing manager)

The firm will be introducing a range of desktop PCs for different market

segments — GTL Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. "We have tailor-made

the desktops, keeping in mind the needs of dotcommers and Net surfers so all the

market segments are being catered to in a better way," he added.

In addition, the firm is also introducing dial-up modems that will be priced

around Rs 2,500. The modem will use SVD (Simultaneous Voice and Data) technology

wherein PCs with a single standard telephone line can do simultaneous functions

that normally require two separate lines.

SVD operation can originate in one of two ways. Users first call and converse

as usual, then drop into SVD mode when they launch a communication application

or user initiate a modems drop into SVD mode when the handset is picked up. The

modem will be useful in increasing productivity in areas such as customer

support, collaborative conferencing, remote presentations and simultaneous voice

over data, he said. With branch offices in Delhi, Calcutta and Hyderabad and a

work force of 50 professionals, the company is also offering services in areas

like e-commerce and e-education.
