Currently, it showcases more than 2500 books from almost all the publications and authors of the Kannada literary fraternity, covering a huge collection of novels, poetry, biographies, autobiographies, plays, culture, art and heritage, travel, cooking, education, etc.

The portal contains sections where users can submit their articles, write a note to authors and post their opinions. There is also a section that provides news regarding latest book releases and events.

"We are going to have 5000 exclusive collection of Kannada books. The intention behind bringing up this portal is to make Kannada books available at the finger tips of the users globally and hence promote the regional language and the exuberant work of the authors," added Sridhar.

The provider of consumer Internet products has also launched Swami's Bengaluru, a platform for localites to interact; Cityfind Bengaluru, a local search engine and a WAP site Moblr, a local search engine for mobile users.

"Each place has its own colloquial way of addressing people. In Bengaluru Swami is a colloquial word that is commonly used to address others. So is Thambi in Chennai, Babu in Kolkata or Sarkar in Delhi. This local flavor brings people closer to each other," explained Sridhar G, founder and executive director of Yulop.

"We concentrate in building a platform that can enrich the traditional and regional value system by taking them to a new front called the Web. We are proud to say we are for regional language and values," he said, adding,  "We are going to introduce the same package in other metros in local flavor in two years. We are going to launch 'Thambi Chennai' early this year. We have been approached by tier 2 cities as well."

"We received investments from a key promoter last May and we would be going for venture capital funding this month. It would be easy for us to approach the VC for other cities," he said adding that the company is expecting $10 million funding.

"We give a robust competition to the local search engine. For city find we have over 50000 user-generated listings only for Bangalore. We do not list that is just in Yellow pages. We can out beat our competitors," he added.
