TIRUCHIRAPALLI: The bustling industrial town of Tiruchirapalli, famous for the Rockfort Temple is home to important industries such as BHEL, OFT, HAPP and the Golden rock railway workshop. The 9th edition of the CIOL SMB Forums Business Advantage seminar was held in Tiruchirapalli on the 10th of August at Hotel Jenny's Residency and attracted an audience of about 80 delegates.

The industrial belt of Tiruchirapalli, which has been accustomed to the conventional methods of running a business, is now automating its business processes. It is trying to keep pace with the changing world and is looking to adapt new technologies.

Intel's Channel manager, Ganapathy Raman, revealed the significance of the wireless technology, as the technology of the future. “As we move up the ladder, wireless would be the future of tomorrow,” he said and addressed audience queries regarding solutions, available for the small and medium business.

“We do not have opportunities to directly interact with the vendors, so this conference has been useful for us to know the kind of solutions available for the SMB segment,” said, A. Harish, Director- commercial management, Baby Engineering.

This potential SMB market is on the lookout for cost effective SMB solutions. During the event, Hemant Kulshreshtha, channel account manager, Cisco, revealed the company's networking products and the solutions available for the SMB segment. Independent ISV's discussed payroll, office management and Accounting, Low cost and Multilingual office suite and also the benefits of using the software.

The CIOL SMB FORUM, during this conference, felicitated an organization that has used IT to the maximum and derived benefits by using technology. Kaveri Medical Centre- Tiruchirapalli, was bestowed with the IT Power User Award in Tiruchirapalli.

“IT has helped us a lot in smoothening the work flow, increasing efficiency, increasing ROI, maintaining inventory in a better way, and also cutting a lot on wastage. IT is a must and it has to be put to use in the best possible way to get better ROI,” said, Dr. Manivannan, Executive Director, Kaveri Medical Centre.
