GE, Intel invest in Amoeba Telecom

BANGALORE: Coimbatore-based Amoeba Telecom has announced that it has received

equity investments from GE Equity and Intel Capital. The company develops

telecom solutions for traffic management targeted at next-generation service

providers to analyze data, voice and video protocols based on a common server

platform.

According to the Amoeba, the funding will help the company continue

developing new products based on enhanced telephony specifications and

standards, implement global marketing initiatives and to ramp up its workforce.

Commenting on the investments, Amoeba Telecom president and CEO Venu Sriperumal

said, "Amoeba Telecom will continue to build on its core strengths in

networking and telecom protocols to offer advanced traffic management solutions

for new generation telecom service providers, mobile Internet operators and

Internet service providers. The equity investment from GE and Intel goes beyond

just financial contribution. Intel brings significant technological expertise

around the Internet, computing platforms and networking, and GE offers the

ability to work with its global network of businesses, resources and

expertise."

Amoeba Telecom products are targeted at the new generation telecom service

providers, mobile Internet operators and ISPs who have Internet as the single

transmission medium to provide voice, video and data services. The company’s

flagship product, the Convergence Traffic Analysis Platform, manages real-time

network traffic.
