Gates to make his fourth India visit

NEW DELHI: Microsoft chairman and chief software architect Bill Gates will visit India from December 6- 9, Microsoft said today.

His visit is expected to add momentum to Microsoft's initiatives in India. India is the fastest growing subsidiary for the company in the APAC region and is one of the few subsidiaries where Microsoft has an end-to-end presence of its entire business portfolio.

On his fourth visit to India, Gates' itinerary covers meetings with key government officials in addition to key business leaders, academicians, industry associations and policy makers.

Detailing on Gates' program, Microsoft India chairman Ravi Venkatesan said, “During his four day visit, Gates will divide his time equally between Microsoft and Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. He will be giving a talk at a CII hosted CEO forum in New Delhi on December 7, 2005 and Developers Forum in Bangalore on December 9, 2005. Gates will also deliver the closing address at the Microsoft Government Leaders Forum, which is scheduled to take place in New Delhi from December 6 — December 7, 2005.”

He added, “Gates visit will focus further on Realizing India's potential. Going forward, the four key priorities of Microsoft in India include taking its digital inclusion initiative further, strengthening the domestic IT industry, continuing to work with Indian developer pool and working closely with Indian system integrators.”
