Galaxy S IV vs Apple iPhone 5S: What rumors say

While Samsung is set to launch is new Galaxy S IV smartphone today, rival Apple Inc, which released its iPhone 5 only in September,  is believed to be working on new iPhone or iPhone 5S.

Expectations from both Samsung and Apple are so high that tech bloggers have cautioned Apple that if the company follows the same pattern and releases a refreshed iPhone 5 as the iPhone 5S, then it risks being seen as "boring".

As per Apple rumors, the new iPhone 5S would be released in multiple colors and could be released sometimes in June.

Though Apple or Samsung has not come out with specification of their new flagship smartphones, rumor mills have churned enough stories from phones with flexible display to unbreakable screens.

Display:

Earlier rumors about Galaxy S IV speculated to be released with a flexible display and also a unbreakable screen. However, picture leaks that followed do not indicate a flexible display. Rather, pictures suggest 4.99-inch 1080p display. The images also indicate a 7.7 millimeters thick phone.

iPhone 5 is seen an evolutionary phone rather than revolutionary as far as form factor. Though noting concrete has yet emerged rumors indicate that Apple's new smartphone suggest a glass front, a 4 inch screen and an aluminum body form the bulk of the design.

Rumors also indicate a iPhone 5S with 4.8 inch screen. Other rumors suggest that Apple may introduce the IGZO panel technology from Sharp on the iPhone 5S which would be a huge step forward in ensuring better battery life.

The iPhone 5S could feature Apple's new A7 chip when it is released along with improved Siri functionality. On the other hand Galaxy S IV is rumored to be powered by Exynos 5 Octa-core processor

Speculations are rife that Apple might include Near Field Communication (NFC) technology in the iPhone 5S, turning it into a kind of credit/debit card. Apple patent filing ( On April 30, 2012 has reinforced the idea of NFC in the new iPhone.
