Galaxy S III awaits s/w update for world roaming

NEW YORK, USA & BANGALORE, INDIA: Samsung which has decided to go ahead with the US launch of Samsung Galaxy S III, despite a sales injunction request filed by Apple to a U.S. court, would be effectively introducing worldwide roaming along with Verizon network.

According to reports, global roaming will not be immediately possible. Users of Verizon's Galaxy S III will eventually be able to roam on 2G and 3G networks in other countries for which they have to wait for a software update.

Verizon has reportedly confirmed that its other Android smartphones viz Motorola Droid Razr, Droid Razr Maxx, Droid 4 and HTC Rezound will get software updates for GSM networks to facilitate the customers use their phones when they are out of station.

Samsung announced that Galaxy S3 would be up for grab in US carriers AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon and US Cellular.

The reports of roaming surfaced soon after the announcement by this company.
