Freescale continues to be a key contributor in the open operating system (Open OS) movement and membership in LiMo is another example of its determination to offer Open OS solutions to handset OEMs.

“Joining LiMo Foundation is yet another example of our commitment to Open OS platform solutions,” said David Patterson, Director of Product Management for Freescale’s Cellular Products Group. “Freescale’s integration of Open OS solutions like the LiMo Platform, into our cellular platforms, enables OEMs to use fewer resources and reduce their overall handset development time."

"We are delighted that Freescale is joining LiMo as a further leading semiconductor vendor," said Morgan Gillis, executive director, LiMo Foundation. “Freescale’s innovation in the mobile communications ecosystem has been consistent and influential from the dawn of the mobile age to the industry’s current pursuit of a truly open mobile platform.
