X-Internet, a term coined by the Forrestor group itself, is a set of

technologies that connects firms' information systems to physical assets,

products, and devices. These technologies include: Biometrics, RFID, Wi-Fi, and

sensors.

According to him, X Internet presents opportunities for all companies. However
for certain industry segments, this concept could make-or-break chance to

streamline manually intensive processes and meet growing consumer requirements.

He opines that the extended Internet will let firms build networks that help

them understand what customers need instead of simply waiting for an order. The

big payoff of the X Internet will be better customer connections and real-time

information about the business.

Navi Radjou who is said to be one of the most influential and frequent

referred analyst of the Forrestor Group, has advised many Fortune 500

manufacturers on product development, supply chain and customer service.

The key issues that he addresses would

be:

  • How can companies use X Internet technologies to deliver proactive

customer service, reduce supply chain costs, and generate margin-rich
revenues? Who is already doing it?

  • How can companies collect data on customers -- while addressing their

    privacy concerns?

  • How will government regulations like the Bioterrorism Act of 2002 and

Container-Security Initiative (CSI) drive the adoption of X Internet
    technologies?
