In lieu of this key strategy, the company has appointed former Google executive Punit Soni as its chief product officer and Peyush Ranjan, also a Google veteran, as its head of engineering.

The development needs to be viewed from the company’s subtle hints to go completely mobile in the near future. Flipkart has already said that it made available some of its product categories only on mobiles.

Confirming the development Sachin Bansal, co-Founder and CEO told the Economic Times that AI will be the key differentiator in the fiercely competitive business of online retail.

"The big disruption that is happening across the world is the rise of artificial intelligence. The number of shopping experiences will become more and more human, rather than talking to a machine that's pretty dumb," Bansal said at a recent event organised by The Indus Entrepreneurs, Bengaluru.
