Five Indians made billions as West outsourced

BANGALORE, INDIA: When the West tries to save money, Indians – at least five of them – laugh all the way to their banks.

According to Forbes magazine, seven individuals, including five Indians, made billions as the West outsourced its business needs.

The Indians who were thus made billionaires were Wipro chairman Azim H Premji, NR Narayana Murthy, Nandan Nilekani and S Gopalakrishnan, all three from Infosys, and Shiv Nadar of HCL Technologies.

Forbes ranked Premji 60 with a fortune of $12.7 billion, Nadar came 277 with $3.9 billion and Murthy 843 with $1.4 billion.

Nilekani and Gopalakrishnan bagged the 1,014 and 1,062 ranks, respectively, in the Forbes list of 1,125 billionaires.
