HCL Comnet Systems and Services Ltd launched

its e-commerce-based shopping mall, www.hclcomnet.com. The site will be a multi-vendor,

multi-technology and multimedia site for IT products for Indian businesses. "Our

e-commerce-based business model revolves around providing multiple services around a

simple product purchase action," says Vineet Nayar, President, HCL

Comnet.

At current projections, the electronic economy, or

e-economy, will overtake the traditional industrial economy by the year 2003. In 1998,

total revenues from e-commerce exceeded $ 102 billion for US-based companies. An

e-enterprise is one with the capability to exchange electronically.

HCL Comnet also plans to open up the organization to

include partners, suppliers and customers. It will connect the new, expanded enterprise

through a universal electronic medium. It will also integrate and align technology,

processes and human performance with a continuously evolving strategic intent.
