ANN ARBOR, US: Santa Clara County’s dispatch system will now be integrating with software for automatically initiating and routing emergency units to an incident site using sophisticated maps and audible turn-by-turn directions.

ADASHI has announced that the Santa Clara County Fire Department in California has awarded it a contract to put its First Response software in every emergency response vehicle.

“The only thing the captain has to do is touch the OK button to acknowledge receipt of the dispatch,” says Fire Captain Jim Swanson, who integrated the system for the Santa Clara County Fire Department. “It saves us a lot of time getting out of the station and gets us to the scene faster.”

The department is also taking advantage of ADASHI’s other speed enhancing capabilities. The department’s preplans are now viewable within ADASHI with a simple button click. Hazards, facility information and site maps pop up automatically. “We respond to a lot of calls involving apartment complexes with numerous unit numbers. ADASHI automatically finds the apartment building preplan and site map that shows how to get there,” explains Swanson.

Swanson tells how captains can set up ADASHI for their personal preferences and response area, basically creating a unique experience for each user, adds a press note. For example, he leaves three maps open at one time on his machine that collectively displays routing, his station’s first due area, and a close up view of his unit’s current location. The bookmarking system also offers a huge advantage according to Swanson who has all 17 stations preset so that his captains don’t have to manually navigate to them.

“I am really pleased with ADASHI,” states Swanson. “It is a great product and both the service and the team behind it have proven excellent.”

The Santa Clara County Fire Department is a California Fire Protection District serving Santa Clara County and the communities of Campbell, Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill and Saratoga.
