Giving push to the momentum focusing on renewable energy created across globe, Farooq Abdullah, union minister for new and renewable energy, at the opening ceremony of PanIIT 2010 conclave reminded people of primitive gods which were linked to the natural source of energies and linked it with the present focus of the world on renewable energy.

“Centuries ago we did not know Allah. We did not know of Jesus Christ. We did not know of Gautam Buddha. We did not know of Ram or Krishna. We know only what we could see and they were other gods. The sun gave us the energy and light, so sun was considered the god. Similarly, water that gave us life was another god that we prayed. The third god was fire which has the capability of warming or even burning you. These things became our gods. Earth, on which we lived, was also considered god as it gave us sustenance and life to survive,” said Abdullah.

He further pointed that after much destruction of our eco-system, human beings are now realising the need to go back to the same for sustenance to which they have been praying earlier as god.

“That is why renewable energy has come back in a big way to have energy from sun, which is free, water which gives us life, geo thermal energy from earth, wind which you can not see but you can feel. That is what god is all about,” said Abdullah.
