With this change in policy, Fairchild will no longer obsolete any product unless the company is required to stop making the part. The company is also extending its lifetime supply policy to complement the new obsolescence policy.

"At Fairchild, listening to our customers through every phase of the design process is a core company value," said Vijay Ullal, president and COO of Fairchild. "One of the issues we heard clearly from our customers was that design and production cycles were being negatively affected by our product obsolescence practices. We decided to change our approach once we heard this feedback."

If, in the rare occasion Fairchild is required to stop production of a specific product, the company will offer our customers a new, enhanced lifetime supply policy with a 24-month duration. Customers will now have 12 months after notice of discontinuation to place their final order, and also have an extended 12-month period after the last order to take delivery.

"This 24-month total lifetime supply policy, combined with this new non obsolescence policy is unsurpassed in the industry," said Chris Allexandre, senior VP of Worldwide Sales. "As a company, Fairchild is driven by the needs of our customers, and will do what it takes to provide an optimal customer experience. We want our customers to design our parts and solutions in their system in full confidence, knowing we will be there to support them long term."

Both changes are effective immediately.
