The new GIF mode in the Facebook app was first reported by The Next Web's Director of Social Media, Matt Navarro, who reported seeing a new GIF option on top of the Facebook camera. The feature was found only on iOS and could not be seen on Android, suggesting that it could be rolling out just for iOS as of now.

In recent months, Facebook has introduced the feature of adding small animated videos in the comment section as a part of the 30th birthday of GIF format. This new feature by Facebook means that you don't have to download any third party apps for creating GIF's.
