CIOL Facebook reported to blow $3 billion per Hollywood-inspired videos

Over years, video content has become one of the major priorities for all kinds of social networking sites. But none of them has pursued it like Facebook. Adding to its continuous efforts to push video content on its platform, now the social media giant is planning to create original video content.

This means, like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, or YouTube you might soon see your favourite show on Facebook too. This will be one major transformation for this platform!

Instead of user-generated content, Facebook is planning to create their own library of original content, says Ricky Van Veen, Facebook’s head of global creative strategy.

Speaking to Recode, Van Veen said, "We’re exploring funding some seed video content, including original and licensed scripted, unscripted, and sports content, that takes advantage of mobile and the social interaction unique to Facebook. Our goal is to show people what is possible on the platform and learn as we continue to work with video partners around the world."

"Our goal is to kickstart an ecosystem of partner content for the tab," he added.

The social media giant is reportedly in talks with various “potential partners” and its efforts are in early stages of planning the video expansion.

Earlier this year, Facebook added a video tab to the Facebook app, where people can find new video content. The company has recently added 360-degree videos in Facebook Live to let videos reach out to its 1.57 billion users.
