Andy Rubin;s Essential releases Android Oreo update

After a few months of delay, Andy Rubin's Essential Phone has finally arrived now and available to order, via Essential’s own site, Best Buy, and Sprint.  The company has also been sending out notifications to early customers who had pre-registered to purchase the device to provide their payment information, and that once completed, their devices would begin shipping within seven days.

Rubin's 5.6-inch device with a nearly edge-to-edge screen and tiny bezel has been in the waiting for a long time. The device is made with titanium and ceramic in order to prevent dings and dents and comes with 128GB of memory.

There's no obvious branding on the phone and Essential says it will provide Android updates for two years and security updates for three. The company also plans to release new accessories for the phone regularly.

Both Essential itself and Best Buy have the unlocked model for $699. The Phone supports all major US carriers, but it’s being sold exclusively via Sprint with a $260 discount at retail. Essential also has a limited time offer that gives you the 360-degree camera in a $749 bundle.
