The technology consists of a connected car and helmet prototype that will establish two-way communication offering proximity alerts to Volvo drivers and cyclists and thereby avoid accidents, it explains.

It will also reveal some trends as each year Ericsson ConsumerLab conducts global consumer research based on interviews with 100,000 individuals, in more than 40 countries and 15 megacities – statistically representing the views of 1.1 billion people across many cultures.  Ericsson will take visitors on a journey to explore the possibilities of a Networked Society with innovations that are just around the corner. Ericsson will showcase four key areas of the Networked Society, including:

In the Entertainment Redefined area of the CES booth, Ericsson will explore how technology is transforming the concert and sporting experience, it adds. The company also seems excited about vehicles becoming smarter, nimbler, safer and more fun. Fully self-driving cars remain some years away, but new technology in the next five years will help cars park themselves, monitor the alertness of the driver and even communicate with each other to avoid collisions, the company stressed and talks of the Ericsson Connected Vehicle Cloud, wherein Ericsson will demonstrate how connectivity with the car and its interaction with other vehicles elevates the experience for drivers and passengers on the road.
