JAPAN: At a printer cartridge factory visit in Hirooka, senior Seiko Epson Corp officials said that India is going to be major focus area for the company and the company would have special plans to increase its market share from the present 20 percent plus.

Without giving away too many details, officials said that some of the steps would include review of the company's pricing models for pigment ink compared to dye based ink, to enhance availability of photoquality ink cartridges. The company also intends to get more aggressive with its campaign to deal with counterfeit consumables, which has over 20 percent market share in some of the developed countries and about 50 percent market share in emerging economies. There are also plans to reach out to more channel partners and consumers to increase their awareness about genuine Epson consumables. According to chief executive of Epson's Inkjet printer and photo product operations division Takao Mimura, "Epson will very actively look at pushing dot matrix printers, single function inkjet printers, and low cost multi function printers in India". No more details were available.

The company is planning about 20 percent growth in revenue and 50 percent growth in numbers in emerging economies, including India.
