Zohar Zisapel, Chairman of RAD Communications in Israel and his brother began their journey into the telecom sector 28 years ago. “Israel is a socialist country and back then coming up as a private enterprise was a new concept,” said Zohar.

“As the years passed, we started other companies; giving ideas to them and helping them grow. We repeated this 28 times,” he added.

That is where RAD Communications took its first step to breaking boundaries. In this process they were able to do things moving on the ideation front as well as expand their network by taking in new entrepreneurs into their system.

Deep Kalra talked about how Indian entrepreneurs today are closer to pushing the boundaries when starting up.

“Today you will see entrepreneurs have a stronger gut feeling of what they are doing. They are far more mature, aware and better equipped with a 360 view. They know how to analyze pitfalls and that is really important,” said Deep.

The discussion further went into how the entrepreneurial ecosystems in both the countries differ greatly from each other and that it is vital for an entrepreneur to familiarize himself with the surroundings.

“Israel is a small country and hence very well networked. The general mentality that works there is ‘If he can do it, then I can do it!’ Hence we have less scope of making mistake,” added Zohar.

However, in India there are quite a number of factors which are necessary for starting a business like infrastructure, technology, starting up a site — all of which take time.

“While wanting to push yourself to excel might be a great thought it must be kept in mind that everything will not go in the linear path as predicted. It is the ability to work your way around things, should something not happen according to what you want, that makes you a good entrepreneur. That way you can test your limits and push boundaries,” said Sridhar.
