For the last two to three years we have been trying to consolidate data areas on desktops and data centres. The process is going on. Since there are a large number of desktops, we need to continue this effort with greater thrust. At the same time we have increased robustness of servers and reduced number of desktops.

Any issues through this process?

Yes, there are some issues that we have encountered like spread across a vast area, or multiple applications on servers wherein managing effectiveness and efficiency at the same time and striking a balance between multiple goals becomes a challenge.

Does the change imply a concurrent change for IT department and IT team?

We have taken the strategy forward very well. All applications are on a data centre from a DR point of view have been taken care of. We have been working successfully on having replica systems so that data can be accessed from any place. Apart from this, our work on document management systems, HR and financial systems is working in tandem with overall strategic goals.
