BANGALORE: EMC Corporation has started its India operations by opening three
new branches in the country at Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi. Headquartered in
Bangalore, the company will provide sales support, system engineering, customer
service support and channel management expertise to its customers and channel
partners in India.
Not a new comer to India, the company is already represented through
distributors and value added resellers. With the opening of the subsidiary, EMC
now plans to expand its reseller partnerships across the country.
Speaking on the launch, EMC country manager for India operations T Srinivasan
said, "This announcement is an extension of EMC’s plans to boost its Asia
Pacific presence through direct offices in each major Asia Pacific country. The
addition of India puts EMC’s coverage of the region at 12 countries with over
35 offices. Asia Pacific is EMC’s fastest growing region. In the last quarter,
this region has recorded a growth of 130 per cent." However, the company
refused to give any information about its investments in India and projected
sales for the coming year.
EMC is targeting companies in banking, telecommunications, manufacturing,
service providers and software development for its solutions. Its existing
customers in India include the Bombay Stock Exchange, Citibank and Texas
