SAN MATEO, USA: EfficientNow, Inc., whose innovative energy-efficient lighting solutions make light-emitting diode (LED) lighting a practical choice, today introduced LED SureGuard to make its LEDs a safer lighting choice, too.

This built-in patented semiconductor lighting technology extends LED bulb design life, actively monitors bulb operating temperature and automatically turns off EfficientNow LED bulbs to avoid a fire hazard, if it senses danger. Even though EfficientNow's commercial and Pearl residential LED bulbs are cool to the touch at all times, the company has built LED SureGuard into its products to assure people that its LEDs are safe no matter how or where they are installed.

The likelihood of overheating and resulting fire increases if an LED bulb is placed in an enclosure or near a heat source. LED SureGuard prevents damage to light sockets, circuits, lamps, rugs, carpets and floors from overheated bulbs. With its "cool to the touch at all times" feature, and the embedded SureGuard technology, Pearl bulbs offers what EfficientNow believes is incomparable longevity. Comparison tests show that Pearl LED bulbs last 25,000 hours, which is more than four times longer than a compact fluorescent and 25 times longer than an incandescent bulb.

Michael Strohecker, EfficientNow CEO and co-founder, explains: "Our LED bulbs are the coolest operating bulbs, making them especially safe for children and pets. In March of this year, more than 550,000 bulbs from other manufacturers were recalled due to fire risk, and this made us reevaluate our products to make sure they were safe. Previously consumers only had price and performance to go by when making their buying decisions. Now they can decide based on safety as well."

LED SureGuard is an integral part of EfficientNow LED bulbs, available now through distributors and online at PearlBulbs.com and EfficientNow.com. Style and pricing vary depending on the bulb selected.
