E-Governance meet conducted for Chandigarh officials

CHANDIGARH, INDIA: The Department of IT of the Chandigarh Administration had conducted a two day training of UT officials on January 14 and 15 at the Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC) - Centre of Excellence.

The training is a part of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). It aimed at sensitizing departments about the role of e-governance.

Speakers at the training programme shared their views on the usage of ICT to ensure transparency and deliver timely and hassle free services to the citizens.

One of the key speakers, C Manchanda, who has over 15 years of experience in the IT domain discussed about e-service project planning, its implementation and NeGP service delivery platform.

He also discussed about Rajiv Aarogyasri Health Insurance Scheme. The Andhra Pradesh government had adopted this model to provide financial protection to 'Below Poverty Line' (BPL) population for various healthcare facilities. The Aarogyasri Health Insurance Scheme is based on a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model.

On similar lines, Dr J K Suri, an IT Consultant with over 35 years of experience discussed about the best e-governance practices adopted by various states in India. He shared an overview of information access and service delivery models of e-Governance and Mission Mode Projects.
