He started by making reference to Andy Grove's 'Rules of Recession'. Then he pointed out as to how relentless pursuit of Moore's Law is opening doors of innovation.

"Silicon technology is in our DNA. We won't stop innovating on it because of recessions," he said citing how previous crisis like 1991 and Y2K in the last two decades have been turned into opportunities.

"Never let a crisis go waste," he stressed.

In the worst recession times, the world PC market saw tremendous growth driven by consumer sales. Ravichandran advised how innovation beyond the firewall, tapping the 'flat' advantages of a new world, efficient IT and flexible infrastructures would be driving business computing next.

He also suggested to not wait for a crisis to take up new advantage levers.

Concluding with a quote from Andy Grove, again, he said, "Bad companies are destroyed by crisis, good companies survive them. Great companies improve upon them."
