You would think that writers will take to social media like fish to water. Think again. Those who express their deepest emotions over 300 hundred pages, might be rendered speechless when it comes to telling the world “what’s happening?” in measly 140 characters.
But as is the norm to trends, there are exceptions and here are a few of those who we think have totally mastered the art of reaching out on social media.
Neil Gaiman
Geek god Neil Gaiman completely rules the interwebs. Right from updates on the latest book he is writing, to the first tooth his baby has grown, you will find it all on his website and ">facebook page.
This is also the hub from where get updates on where to buy Sandman sketches, the man himself drew, while writing the popular ">graphic novel series.
Salman Rushdie
The man who can divide opinions in any part of the world, does what he does best on twitter – piss people off! If the whole international literary gossip circle is your thing, dial @SalmanRushdie on Twitter.
Here’s his take down of Taslima Nasreen less than a week ago.
She may not be the nicest person in the world, I'm afraid. Sad but true. https://t.co/mcQ7mRe6jM

and this may be a thank you to the Nobel committee, or maybe he is just being sarcastic. Our money is on the later
I would like to thank the Swedish Academy. I am extremely grateful for its statement. https://t.co/p06lTJSJ5x

Veronica Roth
Writer of the Divergent series, Veronica Roth’s thing is tumblr and her space is called The art of not writing! Yeah, delicious irony. From writing tips to dancing dog gifs, she puts everything out there.
We are in total love with the Star Wars inspired cartoon strip, on the lines of Calvin & Hobbs, where Han Solo and Leia are trying to tame a young Kylo Ren.
Chetan Bhagat
Purists may shudder putting Chetan Bhagat in the same list as Salman Rushdie and Neil Gaiman, but the fact is that he has more followers on social media than any other author writing in English today. With a 13million+ reach on facebook & twitter, what he says carries great influence.
He does a good job of spreading the word on public service efforts
