Digital Bangladesh, the Roadmap's ready

DHAKA, BANGLADESH: UTC Associates has mapped out the Vision, Roadmap and Strategy for “Digital Bangladesh”, a key mandate by the present government for revolutionizing the economy throughout the rural and metropolitan areas by 2021.

UTC’s executable plan provided a foundation and blueprint for the following areas, including Broadband Infrastructure, E-Governance, E-Finance, E-health and E-learning.

"Our aim is to compete on a global level and create a robust broadband infrastructure that Bangladesh needs in this initiative,” said Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju, Minister of Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

"We are continuing to depend on technology from communications and IT accessibility in our daily operations and are vital to both the public and private sector. We are fully committed to Digital Bangladesh and Broadband infrastructure will be the key driver in our society and economy going forward. We are continuing to foster competition by granting licenses to providers." said Brig Gen Zia Ahmed, psc (Retd.), Chairman Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC)

"Digital Bangladesh is our mission which lays the foundation for the country for change. We have no option but to fulfill it. We have seen an influx of Hi-Tech companies to Bangladesh and our Universities and Colleges have been providing graduates with the technical expertise in telecom and software development. This is a turning point for Bangladesh and we are poised to upgrade the infrastructure throughout the country. We have plans to lay fiber and build datacenters to accommodate the growing need of voice, video and data services.” said Engr. S. M. Khabiruzzaman, P Eng. Managing Director of BTCL.
