BANGALORE: About 200 persons participated in the Yahoo! organized Open Hack Day, a two-day event for developers, held here at a city hotel. The organizers of the Open Hack Day in Bangalore limited the participants to 200 in view of the shortage of space. The event attracted a total of 500 applications. Participants presented their ideas at the Open Hack Day. Yahoo! started the Hack Day as an internal event two years back before making it open. The Open Hack Day event came to Bangalore following similar events in the US and London. "The Bangalore Open Hack Day is different from other venues, with more interest and more amount of collaboration," said Bradley Horowitz, vice president, Yahoo Products Strategy Group, speaking about the event. Yahoo! India Our City is the outcome of an internal Hack Day event. Speaking about the company’s future plans, Horowitz said that Yahoo! is at crossroads and is in for a great change. David Filo, co-founder and chief of the company said, "After Jerry (Yang) became the CEO, we are looking to make most out of our assets." Filo added that Yahoo! would continue to partner with network providers. "We are here to partner with as many partners as possible. Not just network partners, we would continue to partner with content providers and other partners," said Filo.
